COVID-19 & Community.
Community safety is a fundamental part of our core values. To protect ourselves and others while continuing to build and nurture our community of QTPOC, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ adventurers, we have outlined the steps we're taking to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other transmissible illnesses. Please note that these protocols will evolve and be updated as the state of public health continues to shift.
Steps Wild Diversity takes:
We provide hand washing stations during all multi-day adventures, and require thorough hand washing prior to preparing or serving food as well as after bathroom trips.
We provide personal hand sanitizers and disposable gloves for all events, and bring backup masks.
We require masking for anyone riding in the Wild Diversity van.
We respect & support participants' needs for stronger personal guidelines.
Participants and guides collaboratively create community agreements for each multi-day adventure, meeting the highest risk folks where they are at.
As always, we sanitize all kitchen & personal gear after each adventure.
We need your help to keep our community and yourself safe. We ask that you:
Wash hands often with soap, and use hand sanitizer only when hand washing is not an option.
Mask when in our van and when in close proximity with others.
When unmasked, maintain a 6 foot distance from others unless you have explicitly agreed otherwise. During hikes, participants may choose to be unmasked if they stay to the back of the group.
Cover coughs and sneezes then wash your hands.
To the extent possible, limit high-risk activities (flying unmasked, attending large indoor concerts, etc) the week prior to your trip.
Contact us ASAP to postpone your adventure or event with us if:
You have had COVID within the past 10 days
You have had a direct close-contact COVID exposure within the past 5 days (unmasked prolonged close proximity with someone who is positive - if you are not sure if this applies to you, please reach out!)
You have experienced COVID symptoms in the past 24 hours, including:
Temperature is or has been greater than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit (38 Celsius)
Coughing
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Chills
Repeated shaking with chills
Muscle pain
Headache
Sore throat
New loss of taste or smell
Close contact with person with any of the above symptoms or who you know has COVID-19
Note: if you have had a 2nd degree COVID exposure (masked or distanced contact within the last 5 days with someone who is positive) you may attend events, but we ask that you take extra caution to mask & distance at all times.
Thank you!
